Wesley Seminary introduces Rev. Dr. Constance M. Cherry as Affiliate Faculty member

 

Marion, Ind. (January 5, 2021) – Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University has named Rev. Dr. Constance M. Cherry an Affiliate Faculty member.

 Dr. Colleen Derr, President of Wesley Seminary, said, “Wesley Seminary is thrilled to welcome Dr. Constance Cherry as Affiliate Faculty! Dr. Cherry's expertise in the field of worship is beyond compare.  Her book, The Worship Architect, is foundational in worship education. Dr. Cherry is not just a scholar in the field but a passionate worship leader with years of local church ministry experience.  She is a wonderful addition to the Wesley Seminary team.”

 Wesley Seminary offers Affiliate Faculty status to key persons who will contribute to advancing the Seminary’s mission to prepare Christian leaders for missional ministry locally and globally. Affiliate Faculty may fulfill teaching, research, mentoring, scholarship, and/or other academic and ministerial duties that are crucial to extend the reach of Wesley Seminary.

Dr. Cherry is Professor Emerita at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she was Professor of Worship and Pastoral Ministry from 2004 to 2020. During this time, she developed three distinct Christian worship programs: Worship Arts, Worship Studies, and Worship Ministry. She is also a founding faculty member of The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies where she continues to teach in the Doctor of Worship Studies program.

 Her first book, The Worship Architect: A Blueprint for Designing Culturally Relevant and Biblically Faithful Services has been used as a required text at more than 150 institutions of higher education worldwide and is available in five languages.

 Dr. Cherry received her undergraduate degree in music from Huntington University and her Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University. She completed her doctoral degree in Christian Worship at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary.
